MY THOUGHTS

Hindsight is 2020

I think we can all agree that 2020 was not the year we hoped it would be. We were disappointed to say the least, and the cliche “hindsight is 2020” rings truer than ever. If I’m honest, that phrase also hits me right in that chip on my shoulder I’m trying to hide under my tie dyed oversized comfy sweater. I was very much looking forward to the year I hoped it would be. There were so many weddings and events, both personal and as a photographer, that I was looking forward to. But we all had to pivot and reset our expectations… and you know what? As hard as 2020 was, it shed so much light on the things that really matter, it’s hard to feel mad about everything else.

The heart of weddings and events are truly the people. In a year of isolation and wishing we could be with our friends and family, an event that safely brings everyone we love together under one roof…. that sounds like heaven on earth. I can’t wait! Documenting all the faces of your loved ones surrounding you in love and excitement, ahhh that’s one reason being a wedding and event photographer is the absolute best thing ever.

Something else 2020 taught me is the smallest and most unassuming moments with our loved ones may be the most meaningful of all. Being forced to stay home with Christopher has been so special. We worked at home, cooked at home, grew closer at home, and we welcomed our first little one into our family this summer. It’s been so sweet for us all to spend so much of this little space in time where we can take cuddle breaks from work and watch Kai grow up before our eyes. We blinked and he’s already over half a year old!

In hindsight, 2020 was the year I got quality time with my little family, I had the space to dream and learn more about myself, and I refocused on the things that truly make photography so so so important to me. I can’t wait to photograph your special events and the people most dear to you–that is truly something to celebrate!
