Kurt and Laurie’s San Diego Engagement Shoot

One of the coolest parts of my job as a wedding photographer is witnessing first hand all the ways God has been faithful in the lives of the couples I get to work with. Everyone has a different story pieced together by joys and hardships, but every time, newfound love serves as a stark reminder of the goodness of our God. As I sit here and write this blog post about this very special couple, it’s taking me longer than normal because I can’t stop tearing up. Emotions can sometimes be a liability when properly focusing eyeballs are a necessity for productivity. God is so good. He is faithful through the ups and downs of life and his redeeming love can illuminate even the darkest of times. So thankful.

Laurie and I have what one might call a “history.” Without making you sit through hours of stories and inside jokes, I’ll just say that she’s one of the best friends I’ve ever had in my life. She was a bridesmaid in my own wedding, a constant encouragement in my life, and I could not be happier she’s found the love of her life, Kurt.

Oh, Kurt.

Kurt is the rugged outdoorsman every girl dreams about. He’s got the sharp features and glass blue eyes of Dr. McDreamy, and a big ole man heart in deep pursuit of his God. He’s sweet and thoughtful, funny, athletically inclined, and absolutely perfect for my dear friend. Again, could NOT be happier they found one another!

We recently took an afternoon to document their engagement at a gorgeous hiking park in San Diego and this is how it went…..
