Growing up, I was one lucky girl whose father documented everything and everywhere we went. The first time riding a bike was caught on film, our first camping trip as a family was documented in full, my soccer games, lost teeth, girl scouts…. everything was photographed. I totally took it for granted growing up and pretty much thought my dad was weird, but looking back, it was such a gift and labor of love. So any chance I get to give that gift back I take, because those memories are so special to me.
A little while ago, a sweet mom of four contacted me about taking some portraits for her family when they went on vacation to Hotel Del Coronado in June. She was so sweet and when I met them all of the day of, I instantly wanted to be a part of their fun. The boys were a little unsure of me at first, but once I asked about their video games and showed them how to catch sand crabs, we were besties. And the girls…. oh my goodness…. were they the cutest! And all together, I got to witness many family firsts, looks of wonder, squeals of excitement, and genuine carefree laughter… I felt so blessed to be in the midst of it all! Here are my favorites from the evening of beach exploring…..

Toni and family, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of your dream vacation! I had so much fun with you all and I hope you had a lovely time in California!

These are so incredible Kate! I am going to have a wall just from this shoot! And thanks for the precious moments you shared with the kids. You taught them how to find crabs in the sand, and how to “pop” the seaweed (which they did the entire week!), and you letting them take a picture with your camera! They will remember those things forever! They wanted you to go to Disney with us! We love ya girlie!
These photos are amazing! What a wonderful family :).
Well you have a pretty lovely beach and hotel! Thanks for the kind words. 🙂
Awwww! I love your cute family!!! I totally would have gone with them haha. I’m so glad we got to meet and have fun at the beach together. Can’t wait to you’re out here again!
